Such will take precedence over this physical location naming scheme. You may continue to write rules in /etc/udev/rules.d/les to change the device names to anything you wish. The following is an excerpt from Fedora's link listed above, on the issue and possibles resolutions :Įxisting installations upgraded to Fedora 15 will not see a change in names unless /etc/udev/rules.d/les is deleted and the HWADDR lines are removed from all /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-* files, and those files are renamed to use the new device names. The changes to the network naming removes the standard ethX method, and adds something similar to emX.įedora has documented this change on their website here: The reason for the hostid displaying as "00000000000" on Fedora 15 and Red Hat 6, is they both use a new technology, BIOSDEV, that alters the network device naming. Manually checking the Host ID shows that the Host ID is 000000000000, which will not allow FlexLM products to be licensed.

UPDATE: Please note that this error was resolved in ENVI 5.0 SP 3 and IDL 8.2.3 as well as subsequent releases.

FLEXLM HOSTID INSTALL
If you plan to install on a PC with a wireless network adapter, you should report the physical address of both the wireless and the Ethernet adapter. Then press CTRL+V to paste the output in an editor. You can also type the command getmac /FO LIST /V | clip, where /FO contains the letter O as in Oscar. To place the number in the clipboard: Highlight the text with the left mouse button, then press return. The host name can also be reported to your COMSOL representative for easy handling, but it is not necessary to create the license file.

This must be reported to your COMSOL representative in order to sign a license file.

The server name is the network name of the computer, which can be just a name, (e.g., bart), a fully qualified ip-name () or an ip-number (130.243.43.3). COMSOL uses the FlexNet Publisher licensing system to create installation codes using the HostID and server name and possibly more information about your system. For many license types in the COMSOL product family, your COMSOL sales representative will ask you for some information in order to create installation codes.
